COUNTERpult Storyteller Showcase

COUNTERpult is the Roots. Wounds. Words. monthly storyteller showcase series that aims to catapult onto the main stage counter-narratives written and performed by emerging and established BIPOC storytellers.

Produced by Roots. Wounds. Words., COUNTERpult amplifies the riveting, potent and insanely dope stories generated by poets and writers who are Black, Latinx, Indigenous, of Color, poverty-born, queer, trans, gender nonconforming, formerly incarcerated, and/or justice-involved.

Each month, four storytellers take to the mic while audience members enjoy listening to their narratives, answering trivia questions and winning prizes based on their knowledge of the counter-narratives performed. Past COUNTERpult storytellers include JP Howard, Omotara James, Vanessa Martir, Joel L. Daniels, Linda LaBeija, S. Erin Batiste, and Nina Sharma.
