Roots. Wounds. Words. is back with Penning My Pieces, a 6-week writing intensive that will give you and your creative nonfiction life!! Join BIPOC storytellers in this virtual container centering the art of writing about our lives. Here, you will gather weekly to dissect personal essays penned by BIPOC authors such as Cinelle Barnes, Alexander Chee, Jaquira Diaz, Akwaeke Emezi, Kiese Layman, and more. You will learn and hone craft elements and tools ranging from place to personification. You will perform in a public-facing reading.

Penning My Pieces will take place over Zoom and include closed captioning. This writing intensive is free, but space is limited and registration is required.

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of former Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council.
