3d Space by RWW is a non-academic literary arts offering that provides semester-long craft instruction, mentorship, and support to BIPOC writers ready to engage in a rigorous, creative, and care-centered writing program.

Sociologist Ray Oldenburg coined the term “third space” to describe neutral and non-hierarchical places away from home and work. Homi K. Bhabha argued that third spaces empower the marginalized to envision liberation. At 3d Space by RWW, we embody this concept. Our semester-long, non-academic writing program offers top-tier literary arts pedagogy to BIPOC writers serious about studying craft and creating literary art.

3d Space by RWW is not just a program; it's a supportive space where serious writers learn craft, focus on writing, produce literary art, receive mentorship, engage in co-writing sessions, and build a literary community while showing up fully as themselves. 3d Space by RWW offers a space where code-switching and cultural explaining are unnecessary and unhelpful.

At 3d Space by RWW, BIPOC poets and writers are welcomed and centered, valued and pushed. 3d Space by RWW is committed to storytelling and stories by BIPOC storytellers.

3d Space by RWW is for the emerging writer who is interested in an MFA workshop experience without the anti-Black and Brown harm typically found in those spaces. It is also for the emerging writer who may have an MFA or a published book but whose art will benefit from the BIPOC gaze.

3d Space by RWW workshops meet weekly for three months. The program begins on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, and ends on Saturday, December 14th, 2024. Each workshop has at most 12 participants, ensuring all participants receive the attention, care, and support their work deserves.

Application Details The application to participate in 3d Space by RWW closes at 11:59 pm PT on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024. There is a $7.00 application administration fee.

Dates & Location 3d Space by RWW is held weekly via Zoom from Thursday, September 5th, to Saturday, December 14th, 2024. The days on which workshops are held vary. Faculty will provide accepted applicants with the workshop schedule.

Tuition — The tuition for 3d Space by RWW is $1,200.00. Payment plans and scholarships are available.

Scholarships — Financial considerations should never be a barrier. We offer three partial and one full scholarship per workshop. We are committed to making this program accessible to all BIPOC writers.
